Get hands-on experience driving business change
In FCCP, you’ll work in a small team of five students to learn and apply the consulting process—structuring a business problem, defining the work scope, conducting research, and presenting actionable recommendations to the client. These problem-solving and strategic thinking skills are valuable across industries and roles, not just in consulting, making FCCP a great opportunity to build expertise that applies to any workplace. Your team will be supported by a Fuqua faculty advisor and an experienced FCCP Fellow, ensuring you have the guidance and resources needed to succeed. FCCP projects span a wide range of industries, including healthcare, energy, social entrepreneurship, sports and entertainment, technology, and more. Each project will have a dedicated lead from the client side to provide insights, resources, and regular feedback to help drive your work forward.
Course timeline
The Daytime MBA FCCP program is a 6-credit graded elective offered in the spring semester, with a kickoff session and preparatory work beginning in Fall Term 2 to ensure students are well-prepared. Students typically commit around 10 hours per week to the course, including class time, client and team meetings, and project work. Throughout the experience, they are encouraged to reflect on personal goals, provide constructive feedback to peers, and leverage feedback from teammates and mentors to support their professional growth.
Fall 2
Project selection for FCCP begins in the first week of Fall Term 2, when projects are introduced to MBA students through a series of information sessions. Students then apply by ranking their project preferences, submitting a brief statement of interest, and listing relevant skills or experience. While most FCCP projects are conducted virtually with clients across the U.S. and internationally, some may require travel. If a client indicates that travel is essential, the FCCP Program Office will clearly note this during the application process. Travel is self-funded, and students should consider associated costs when selecting these opportunities. Travel typically occurs during Spring Break in March and will be to a specified location listed in advance.
Once the application period closes, the FCCP Program Office conducts a team formation process described in more detail on the FAQs below.
Following team assignments, students begin the prep phase in Fall Term 2. During this period, teams schedule a team-building dinner, connect with their faculty advisor and FCCP Fellow, and hold a kickoff call with their client. This phase helps students build rapport, align expectations, and begin engaging with the course content ahead of the spring semester.
Spring 1
You and your teammates will dig deep into your client’s business challenge, meeting regularly with your client project lead to iron out the work scope and gather the data needed to perform your analyses. You’ll present your initial findings before spring break.
Spring 2
Incorporating feedback from your client, with guidance from your faculty advisor and fellow, you’ll deliver final recommendations and deliverables to your client’s key stakeholders at the end of Spring 2.

You can apply up to 15 total credit hours of experiential learning related courses towards your graduation requirement at Fuqua. While participation in more than one experiential learning opportunity at the same time is sometimes possible, applicants are encouraged to carefully consider their current academic, recruiting, and other extracurricular commitments when assessing which opportunities to prioritize.
We welcome applications from students in other Duke graduate schools. However, since this is a Fuqua program, we place Fuqua students on teams first and add students from other schools on a case-by-case basis. That means that if you apply, we can’t confirm that we will have room for you — but we’ll do our very best to find you a spot! Please keep in mind that Fuqua’s academic calendar is different from other schools and if accepted, you may need to plan around scheduling conflicts.
Contact us here and we will respond as soon as we can. You can also email our team at fccp@fuqua.duke.edu.
