Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum

Master of Management Studies (MMS)

Learn consulting frameworks and build practical skills

Participating in the Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum (FCCP) offers MMS: Foundations of Business students a unique opportunity to apply their classroom learning to real-world business challenges. Through FCCP, these recent college graduates collaborate in diverse teams to tackle defined problems for actual clients, enhancing their analytical, communication, and leadership skills. This hands-on experience not only reinforces the business fundamentals acquired during the MMS program but also provides a practical context that can differentiate students in the job market. By engaging directly with clients, MMS students gain valuable insights into various industries, helping to clarify their career interests and build confidence as they land entry-level positions in the professional world.

“The diverse education and experience makeup of the Fuqua team provided us several unique perspectives and conclusions that we wouldn’t have come to on our own. They asked us thoughtful questions that challenged us to think more broadly and critically against some of our own assumptions.

Course structure

The MMS FCCP program is a 2-credit, graded experiential learning course that begins with an orientation in Fall Term 2 and runs over six weeks during Spring Term 1. Students work in teams guided by faculty and coached by a second-year MBA serving as an Engagement Manager. The course combines classroom sessions, covering topics such as client communication, consulting best practices, and strategic problem-solving frameworks, with hands-on project work. Students meet regularly with their teams, engage directly with clients, and deliver final presentations that translate their insights into real-world impact.

Prep

In Fall 2, youโ€™ll attend a kickoff class to learn more about the program and understand course requirements before you dive into the project in the spring.

During the orientation class, you will meet your Engagement Manager, connect with your FCCP team, and gain an introduction to the business challenge you’ll tackle during the Spring 1 term.

Execution

In Spring 1, you and your teammates will dig deep into your client’s business challenge, meeting regularly with your Engagement Manager to finalize the work scope, conduct research and analyses, and synthesize your findings into a presentation for the client. You’ll deliver final recommendations to their key stakeholders at the end of Spring 1. Throughout the course, you’ll be prompted to reflect on your own goals, provide meaningful feedback to your teammates, and grow from the feedback you receive.
